Second largest in the nation, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) serves over 475,000 students in transitional kindergarten through 12th grade at over 1,000 schools. The District also has over 200 independently-operated public charter schools, authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education.
Within Region North there are 12 Community of Schools. What are Community of Schools (CoS)? Community of Schools are regional groupings of schools within a neighborhood where local district staff are centralized to better assist families. Los Angeles Unified launched the CoS model to make it easier and more efficient for students, families, and school staff to get the support they need.
Kester Elementary belongs to the Van Nuys/Valley Glen CoS. There are many valuable services offered by our CoS including town hall meetings, newsletters, parent and family webinars, special education resources and much more. Open to everyone, families are encouraged to become active participants to help support and prepare our students.
Vicky Damonte is the Regional Director of the Van Nuys/Valley Glen Cos. The office is located at Madison Middle School in North Hollywood.
